Actions and Explorer Tabs

The Actions and Explorer tabs provide a convenient way to add tasks and files to the Tasks List and to perform some other common tasks. The Actions and Explorer tabs have a default initial size that can be customized as required. To change the size, move the mouse over the tab’s boundary, and when the mouse pointer icon changes to a splitter icon, select over the corresponding splitter and then drag to adjust the view size.

The following is a detailed description of each tab:

Explorer tab

The Explorer tab consists of two windows that appear and disappear as one unit. The two windows are connected to each other: Changing a folder in the Folders window changes the contents of the Files window, so that it displays the recognizable multimedia file(s) that are found in the selected folder.

To show or hide the Actions and Explorer Tabs, press Ctrl + 1 or from the Main Menu select View -> Actions and Explorer, and check or uncheck the box.

There are two windows on the Explorer tab, as follows:

Folders

Use the Folders window, located on the right side of the application, to view the folders in your file system.

Notice that you cannot delete or edit folder names using the Folders window.

If a folder has subfolders, a "+" sign appears next to the folder icon. You can expand the folder to show the subfolders. You can also use the keyboard right arrow "à" to expand a folder. If a folder is expanded a "-" sign appears next to the folder icon.

To completely expand a folder and all of its subfolders, select the folder and then press "Shift + *". Note: Use the '*' key on the number pad of the keyboard.

To collapse a folder select the "-" key on the number pad of the keyboard, or press the left arrow "ß" using the keyboard.

To refresh the Folders window, press F5.

The Folders window is shown in the figure below:

Files

Use the Files window to view the contents of the currently selected folder in the Folders window. Recognizable multimedia files are the only files that will be displayed in the Files window, along with folders, drives, and shortcuts.

The contents of the Files window can be sorted by selecting the header of the item to be sorted, while selecting the same column once more will sort the contents in the reverse order.

You can rename or delete any of the contents of the Files window. Note that deleting a file from the Files window will delete this file from both the Files list and the hard disk as well.

The Files window is shown in the figure below:

Actions Tab

The Actions tab provides shortcuts for adding various conversion tasks to the Tasks List and for performing some other commonly used tasks (such as joining files, splitting a file, etc):
