Below are videos that demonstrate the Emboss filter. Emboss uses an edge detection algorithm to give the video a texture or appear as a relief. This filter can be used during capture for real-time processing, during conversion or during playback to enhance existing media files.

Because emboss can be used as the first step in most edge detection routines, any application that monitors an area for a change will find this filter useful. For example, a paper company might use this to look for rips or tears in a roll of paper as the "sheet" is rolled or unrolled. Additional examples are:
