Which Quality should I use for converting my multimedia file(s) or DVDs to PSP format?
|

What name will my file have?
Files generated with M²Convert for PSP must follow a specific naming convention since PSP only accepts files with specific names

When I rename generated files and insert them into the PSP, the PSP will not accept them, what’s wrong?
When inserting files into your PSP, the files should follow a specific naming convention. Files have to be named and have to exist in a specific folder. MP_ROOT folder has to be in the root drive of the PSP device. Inside the MP_ROOT folder you can have two subfolders. For Files generated using MPEG-4 compression the subfolder is “???MNV??” and files generated using H.264 compression the subfolder is “???ANV??” (where “?” is a number 0-9). The video file names must follow the naming convention of “M4V?????.MP4” for MPEG-4 compressed files and “MAQ?????.MP4” for H.264 compressed files. M²Convert for PSP creates MP_ROOT in the output folder you assign it to. When you convert files using MPEG-4 compression a “???MNV??” subfolder will be created inside the MP_ROOT folder. When converting files using H.264 compression, a “???ANV??” subfolder will also be created inside the MP_ROOT. The video file names have the extension .MP4 and the thumbnail for that video will have the same name but with .THM extension. The thumbnail is used to distinguish between files. To make things easier, just copy MP_ROOT to the root folder of your PSP.

What is the .THM file that gets generated when converting to PSP? Do I need to use it?
This is the thumbnail image that PSP uses to display on the screen to distinguish video files. This file is a JPEG Interchange File Format (JFIF) with 4:2:2 color space. You need to copy both the video file and its thumbnail to your PSP. |

What exactly does Compression mean and how do I know whether to use H.264 or MPEG-4?
Video compression is also called video encoding. The goal of Video Compression is to visually represent a video file as accurately as possible using the fewest number of bytes (data) to produce smaller file sizes while maintaining quality, which in turn, takes up less storage space. There are two Video Compression Formats that can be used with PSP devices.
