How long it takes to convert a DVD depends on many factors:

• Computer; mainly CPU speed, how much RAM you have, hard disk and DVD drive speed, and if other software is running.
• DVD; what type of codec it uses, duration of the movie, and whether it has extra features or not.

Although VOB files are encoded very much like standard MPEG-2 files, they do not contain the entire information needed for decoding it. That's why it's recommended that you use the VIDEO_TS.IFO file when trying to convert a DVD. This file should contain the needed information.

Add the files to be converted to the Tasks List. Then set the General Settings for the file(s). Set the File Settings (including its output file name, target format, and audio/video codecs) for each file in the Tasks List. When the files are added to the Tasks List, the Target Format is automatically set to .AVI. Each task in the list can have separate settings. When more than one file is selected at the same time, click the Apply Page Settings button to apply the settings to the selected files. Click the start convert icon on the Tasks List toolbar to start the conversion process.

In the Tasks list, select the file(s) you want to add the effects to. Select the type of effects (Video or Audio) you want to apply. The effects available depend upon the type that is selected. Select Effects in the Available Effects list and click Add, or drag them to the Selected Effects list. To adjust the properties of an effect, select the effect in the Selected Effects list and click its properties button. When more than one file is selected at the same time, click the Apply Page Settings button to apply the settings to the selected files.

In the Tasks List, select the file(s) that need to be changed. On the File Settings tab go to the Video Options Page and select the Enable check box in the resize section, and then select one of the standard sizes or select Custom and click Adjust to open the Resize Settings dialog box to set up a custom size.

Select the file in the Tasks List. From the File Settings tab select Portion. Then go to the Portion Settings Page, select the Convert a Portion of the Source File check box, and select the portion’s start and end times.
